KARACHI: Former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar Ahmed made startling revelations concerning former President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and the Sindh government.
In an interview to Samaa TV channel, Rao Anwar, who has been notorious for killing people in encounters in Karachi, disclosed details and accused Asif Ali Zardari of involvement in a corruption scandal amounting to Rs700 billion.
Describing Zardari as the linchpin of the system’s corruption, Anwar claimed that a staggering sum had been illicitly moved out of Pakistan within the last five years under Zardari’s influence.
Rao highlighted the seizure of people’s properties by the Sindh police after 2013 and criticized the Sindh government for its inadequate crime control policies. He alleged that instead of addressing crime, the government was preoccupied with other pursuits.
Former police officer in Karachi, known for controversy during his tenure in Karachi, officially retired from service by the end of 2019.
Throughout his tumultuous career, encounters and allegations of corrupt practices have consistently plagued Anwar.
Despite facing various disciplinary actions and suspensions, notably following the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud from Waziristan, Anwar was later acquitted by an anti-terrorism court.
