ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court took action by issuing notices to former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director-general Faiz Hamid and others in response to a petition filed by former Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Azizi Siddiqui contesting his removal.
Under the leadership of CJP Qazi Faez Isa, a five-member bench comprising Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan presided over the proceedings.
Today’s session was broadcast live on the apex court’s website and YouTube channel for public access.
Previously, the court directed Siddiqui to include former spy chief General Faiz Hamid, former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, and others in his plea against his dismissal.
The case was scheduled for an earlier hearing this month after the judge submitted a request to the Supreme Court for an expedited review of his plea following the Supreme Judicial Council’s decision regarding his dismissal.
In response to the order, the former judge filed a plea to include Gen Hamid, Gen (retd) Bajwa, Brigadier (retd) Irfan Ramay, Brigadier (retd) Faisal Marwat, former IHC chief justice Anwar Kasi, and ex-SC registrar Arbab Arif as parties in his case.
Representing the former IHC judge in this case was lawyer Hamid Khan.
