Caretaker PM Kakar
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar is visiting Jaranwala today to express solidarity with the Christian community.
Kakar will tour the burnt churches and meet with survivors to convey his support. PM Kakar is also expected to announce compensation for those affected by the incident.
Caretaker Punjab CM Mohsin Naqvi and federal ministers will accompany the Premier. The IG will provide investigative updates on individuals involved.
The Pakistan Ulema Council and Church of Pakistan are collaborating to address the Jaranwala incident. They form a 24-member committee chaired by Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi and Bishop Azad Marshal.
The committee aims to foster interfaith unity and counter extremism. It includes diverse leaders, including Christians. The Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman emphasized promoting tolerance, respect, and patience.
He rejected exploiting religion for personal or political gain. The committee aims to discourage illicit actions using blasphemy or religious insult.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has sanctioned Rs 2 million for each of the affected families in the Jaranwala rampage. It is a compensation for the losses incurred in the mob violence that occurred last week.
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab announced that the government would provide cheques to the affected individuals within the next three days.
CM Naqvi demonstrated a rare display of solidarity with the Christian community. He chaired a cabinet meeting in a church for the first time in Punjab’s history.
Subsequently, he convened with members of the peace committee. The committee consists of scholars from various schools of thought and representatives of other religions. The peace committee met at Jamia Masjid Sabri in Jaranwala.
He also disclosed that Muslim scholars are willing to allow Christians to worship in mosques.
