ISLAMABAD: A dedicated court, established for cases under the Official Secrets Act, approved a petition requesting private proceedings in the cipher case involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan and ex-Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain revealed the decision, scheduling closed-door sessions for Friday.
The cipher case revolves around a missing diplomatic document reportedly from Khan’s possession. The PTI claims it contained a US threat to remove Imran due to his stance on Russia.
During Thursday’s hearing, Khan’s sisters and Qureshi’s family were present in jail.
The court’s directive strictly prohibits any media coverage—print, electronic, or social media—of the cipher trial.
These instructions are to be conveyed to the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority and Pakistan Telecom Authority.
Access to the courtroom during proceedings is now restricted to the public and media.
Furthermore, the court imposed conditions for the attendance of the accused’s family members: they must refrain from disclosing any case details.
