Islamabad police unveil Digital License Management System to Tighten Noose Around e-challan defaulters and Suspects

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have introduced the Digital License Management System (DLMS), streamlining data on suspects and e-challan defaulters.

This system aids in apprehending offenders and ensures prompt fine payment by e-challan violators.

The Safe City Command and Control Center shared a list of 145 violators with the Police Khidmat Center and traffic offices. As a result, 82 violators settled 995 e-challans by visiting traffic offices, while licenses for the remaining 63 were suspended.

The Chief Police Officer (CPO) for Safe City/Traffic announced the full functionality of the Digital License Management System, effective from December 13, 2023.

Non-payment of e-challans will lead to legal consequences, potentially resulting in the withholding of police facilities.

Utilizing the recently introduced Brief Cam alerts and Safe City cameras, authorities are actively tracking vehicles of e-challan violators to ensure compliance with legal obligations.

No raise in taxes on salaries, says IMF

he IMF’s resident representative in Pakistan dismissed media claims suggesting plans for tax hikes on salaries and business income, as well as an increase in the petroleum levy threshold.

Reports had circulated indicating the IMF’s supposed request to reduce tax slabs for salaried and business classes from seven to four, potentially impacting middle to upper-middle income brackets. These reports also hinted at a rise in the maximum petroleum development levy.

An IMF official clarified that there are currently no such plans in motion.

Pakistan, operating under a caretaker government post an IMF-approved loan in July, received $1.2 billion as the initial tranche of the $3 billion Stand-by Arrangement.
